9th Grade Global and Geometry Fieldwork on 10/24 and 10/26

posted Oct 18, 2017, 7:51 AM by Evan O'Connell

On Tuesday, 10/24 Geometry students will go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of a joint fieldwork for Global and Geometry.

On Thursday, 10/26 Algebra students will go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rubin Museum.  If you need an extra permission slip, you can download and print from the links below.  Just double check with your students to ensure that you have the right slip.  For Thursday, the Algebra students are split into two groups - one group will go to the Met, and the other will go to the Rubin.

Students know their fieldwork assignments from their Math and Global teachers.  Please reach out to Mr. O'Connell (oconnell@metropolitanels.com) or Ms. Kleinbart (rkleinbart@metropolitanels.com) with any questions!

Parent Portal to Jumpro.pe

Did you know that you can keep tabs on your child's academic growth, attendance data, and missing assignments by logging into Jumpro.pe?  Use this link to take you to the parent portal page.  You'll need a few pieces of biographical information to log in, including your student's OSIS ID number, and either a home phone number or a home street address.  Once you're in, you can browse up-to-the-minute information, and can even communicate with teachers about specific assignments.

Please let me know if you have any difficulty logging in.  It really is a terrific tool, and please feel free to empower students to log in too using the same login information.  It's always helpful when students take ownership over their own Jumpro.pe data.  Below is a screencap of the front page!

I'm looking forward to meeting all of you this Thursday, 9/28 at 5:30pm.  This will be an opportunity for you to "go back to high school" and meet all of your child's teachers, following a typical schedule.  You'll hear about curriculum, case studies, and all the goings-on to anticipate at MELS this year.  See you there

This is from the Executive Board of the newly-convened MELS PTA:

Welcome to the first year of MELS and the first ever MELS Parent Teacher Association.   This year’s 6th and 7th graders are our school’s “pioneers” and so are we!  What an exciting opportunity we have to form the PTA, set its priorities, and lay the groundwork for future years.

The next meeting of the PTA is November 9, 2010.  The Executive Board will meet at 6:30 and the General Meeting will start at7:30.  Both meetings are open to any parent, teacher, or staff member of MELS.  Please see the attached Word doc. for more details, including an agenda and the names and contact information of officers.

I hope that this website will become an increasingly useful tool for you to monitor and interact with all the work and experiences your students are creating at MELS.  Please stay tuned for future developments including a parent survey, specific resources on how to assist your MELS student with homework and assignments, and a Word Wall for MELS and Expeditionary Learning FAQs and language.  In the meantime, please feel free to leave a comment in the space below.  I look forward to seeing you again soon, both in person and over the Internet.

Parent Access to IMPACT

You now have access to IMPACT, our online grading system.  IMPACT access will enable you to monitor your student's progress throughout an expedition.  It will also allow you to see how your student is mastering specific learning targets in particular classes on a rolling basis.  The link is contained in the Parent Portal section on the left-hand sidebar; you may also access it through the general MELS website
